Media versus minorities

Article Abstract:

The Madison Avenue Initiative (MAI) named a 10-member executive committee which includes broad support from the minority media leadership. Earl Graves, Jr., Jesus Chavarria and Raul Alarcon are committee members. MAI will pursue dialog on advertising issues with the most influential companies. The organization was born after disclosure of a memo from the Katz Radio Group which described the urban and Spanish-language audience as suspects, not prospects.

Motivating the masses

Article Abstract:

Increased work pressure on the employees, along with uncertainty about job security, could lead to a workplace environment that is not conducive to productivity. It is suggested that the best way to overcome this problem is to inform the workers about the company's fiscal health and the staffing plans, as it also helps in retaining and motivating them.

Getting on board

The demand for Hispanic board members is increasing at a time when such exposure and experience is more valued by Hispanic executives. In order to be considered for corporate board directorships, executives should network with professionals, cultivate relationships with executive search firms, and consider serving on non-profit or advisory boards.
