Four measures of partner violence: construct similarity and classification differences

Article Abstract:

Frequency measures for partner violence generally represent the latent construct while the severity measures do not. A survey of undergraduate women reflects the similarities and differences of the different partner violence measures. Inconsistent classification is seen for milder and rare violence. Unaccurate classification results from single violence measure reports. Minor violence leads to greater depression and weak family activities. The partner violence depends on violent behaviors and individual personalities.

Predictors of leaving home in young adults raised in Germany: A replication of a 1991 study

Article Abstract:

A study by Silbereisen, Meschke and Schwarz in 1996 has been replicated and expanded. The original study, using 1991 data, considered the timing and correlates of leaving home in former East and West Germany. From 1996 data it is shown that East Germanys were more likely to leave home earlier than West Germans. East and West Germans were found to be more similar in the pattern of predictors in 1996 compared to 1991, highlighting the significance of macrolevel forces on individual decisions.

Acts of psychological aggression against a partner and their relation to physical assault and gender

Article Abstract:

Specific acts of psychological aggression and whether they are more closely linked to physical assault than others, were examined using item analysis in male and female undergraduates. Results suggested that all psychological items were linked to physical assault for both men and women, although some associations were stronger for males than for females.
