Strengths-based assessment of children with SED: consistency of reporting by teachers and parents

Article Abstract:

A comparison of ratings by parents and teachers of a group of 20 children diagnosed as suffering from serious emotional disturbance is given. Significant convergent and discriminant validity as well as possible assessment biases appeared, showing the need for developing separate norms for different informants.

The strengths and limitations of case record reviews in examing family preservation outcome formulation and treatment planning

Issues related to methodologies family therapists use to formulate outcomes are examined. Topics include the relationship between ethnicity and sector of care, the relationship between outcome formulation and service sector, and the implications for intermediate and ultimate outcomes for therapists.

A method for developing a biopsychosocial formulation

The author proposes a way for clinicians to present a clinical case as a combination of biological, psychological, and sociological factors expressed chronologically. Selecting the highlights of a person's life can present a concise view of their condition.
