Wines improved markedly between 1976 and 1996 to become more distinctive and delicious than ever before. Wine-making technology innovated in California culminated in wines that rivaled those from France. This competition inspired improvements in French wine.

Article Abstract:

Physicist and wine collector Bipin Desai hosted a tasting of 102 offerings of 1961 Bordeaux. Among the best wines tasted were the Catena Latour and the Graves chateaus, Haut-Brion and La Mission Haut-Brion.
