Covering his bases: Bob DuPuy talks about bats and bottles

Article Abstract:

The details of the investigations done by Bob DuPuy on the Chicago Cubs slugger Sammy Sosa, whose famously corked bat led to a national controversy and Sosa's suspension, are presented. Bob has a collection of 2,500 bottles in several spots, including a locker at Acker Merrel & Condit that holds more than 1,000 of his bottles.

Czech-trained glass repairer unclouds the world of decanters

Article Abstract:

Augustine Jochec a glass repairer by profession takes more care while doing his job for 'sick glass' often found in decanters to remove the cloudiness, which is a result of the chemical reaction between the wine and the glass. A detailed description of his work is presented.

The history of painter Thomas Arvid, thirty-nine years old and a Detroit native, now living in Atlanta, is described. Thomas found a focus for his painting only after he discovered wine and since, he reproduces the vinous object on canvas and enjoys it at the diner table.
