Greece at the crossroads: Crisp white wines offer distinctive flavors, while reds are less exciting

Article Abstract:

The quality of white table wines from Greece is rising, with well-structured crisp white wines made from native grapes such as Moschofilero, thus offering distinctive flavors of crunchy, apple and peach elements. However, the red wines are much less consistent in quality and style, dominated by astringent characteristics with not enough body and freshness to deliver the desired fruit flavors, thus necessitating an enhancement of modern winemaking and viticultural techniques.
