Streamlining for growth

Article Abstract:

Procter & Gamble (P&G), based in Cincinnati, OH, introduced new changes to "Streamlined Logistics" to help the company and its customers save money by improving efficiency. The changes will mean the creation of a new system that will allow products on promotion to be quickly replenished on an emergency basis when necessary. There will also be a new price bracket for mixed truckloads of some P&G products as well as the renewal of P&G's Logistics Development Incentive. The company will also remove on Jul. 1, 1999, its plant truck-meeting efficiency requirements for Streamlined Logistics Pricing.

Beyond deli trays

Article Abstract:

Supermarkets who plan to venture on full-service catering programs should first establish a solid foodservice reputation and an aggressive marketing campaign. A boxed lunch program is helpful to retailers who already have an in-store sandwich or chicken program bakery cookies and deli salads, according to Howard Solganik, president of Solganik and Associates of Dayton, OH. Solganik said advertisement is also important to let people know that a supermarket is offering a full-service catering program. Other critical factors are work space, timing and staffing.
