Two studies take aim at fat and alcohol

Article Abstract:

Two studies on weight gain and alcohol consumption led to conflicting results. A University of Lausanne, Switzerland, study indicated that regular alcohol consumption could lead to weight gain, and Veterans Affairs Medical Center researchers concluded that even heavy drinking has no overall impact on weight.

California harvest: early and heavy

Article Abstract:

A hot summer prompted many Napa and Sonoma vintners to harvest grapes early, and some are weeks ahead of schedule. The Chardonnay grapes benefited from the conditions, but red wines may not have sufficient tannins as a result of too short a time on the vine.
