Drug-nutrient interactions

Article Abstract:

Interactions between food and drugs can have harmful effects on an individual's nutritional status and therapy effectiveness. The elderly are specially effected due to age-related change in their physiology and diet habits. The interactions either increase or decrease drug absorbtion. Drug bioavailability is effected by food directly binding to the drug or changing body physiology such as pH and blood flow. The excretion of drugs depends on their rate of metabolism in the body.

Analytical methods for evaluation of immune response in nutrient intervention

Article Abstract:

When examining the immune system's response to nutrients analytical methods must be considered carefully. The effect of nutrients on the immune system is quite complex. One nutrient may have a negative or positive effect on another nutrient and together may negatively affect the immune system. Interactions between nutrients may also influence the outcome of controlled studies.
