Distributing power: a Hungarian mission
Article Abstract:
British architects and planners have visited Hungary to advise on planning issues. The visit was arranged through the Association of Consultant Planners and considered three areas; Pecs, Debrecen and Vac. Hungary is changing its centralised planning system to give greater power to local authorities and districts are to prepare flexible planning frameworks for development. There is a need for more, good quality housing and this is to be provided by the use of prefabricated concrete systems and through self-build schemes.

The UK pizza market has seen steady growth over recent years, with retail sales of pizza reaching 398 million pounds sterling in 1994. The market is expected to expand by a further 8% in 1995, reaching 431 million pounds sterling. The largest sector is frozen pizza, which accounted for 56% of sales in 1994. However, there is stronger competition from chilled pizza, which accounted for 39% of the market. Sales will be further boosted by consumer demand for snack and convenience foods.
