Future fears: organized medicine faces managed competition

Article Abstract:

Organized medicine remains divided on the idea of managed health care competition. For example, the American Society of Internal Medicine supports managed competition because it offers the industry flexibility in how to best manage a region's health care needs. However, the American College of Physicians believes that managed competition will lead to the intrusion of administrators and regulation into the practice of medicine. Executives at several other medical associations also discuss their attitudes toward managed competition.
