Message content of alcohol moderation TV commercials: impact of corporate versus nonprofit sponsorship

Article Abstract:

This content analysis examines a sample of 203 alcohol-related North American TV commercials dealing with alcohol moderation and driving under the influence (DUI), in order to determine whether the type of ad sponsor has an impact on the message content. Corporate sponsors, such as breweries and distilleries, are compared to nonprofit sponsors such as governments and nonprofit organizations. Findings show that ads from corporate sponsors are less likely to make mention of threats or negative consequences, and are also less likely to fear arousal.

Implementation and evaluation of stroke clinical pathways and the impact on cost of stroke care

Article Abstract:

A collaborative stroke care program at St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City, MO, appears to have long-term benefits for patients and staff. The success of the program is measured by evaluating patient discharge outcomes, patient clinical outcomes, variation reports, patient satisfaction and fiscal concerns. System and clinical changes have enhanced the care of stroke patients and financial costs appear to be reduced by at least 11%.

Diabetic Foot Infections: Evaluation and Management

Article Abstract:

Foot infections are associated frequently with a mal perforans ulceration. They are a major cause of patients with diabetes. The infection is not usually the cause of an ulceration, the most characteristic of diabetic foot lesions, but is a significant determinant of outcome. These ulcers may become infected because of prolonged exposure to the environment or excessive weight-bearing.
