Asbestos on the move

Article Abstract:

The UK's first asbestos road show has taken place in London's Mayfair Conference Centre, jointly organised by the British Occupational Hygiene Society and the government's Health and Safety Executive. The show was opened by health and safety minister Alan Meal who told the 130 delegates of the priorities in the fight to reduce the numbers dying from asbestos related diseases. In his lecture, Professor Julian Peto, a leading epidemiologist with the Institute of Cancer Research, estimated that around 250,000 men in western Europe will die of asbestos related diseases by 2034.

Multiple sclerosis

Article Abstract:

A diagnosis of multiple sclerosis (MS) need not necessarily mean the end of a busy working life. An employer who makes efforts to ensure that the MS sufferer can continue to work will gain from retaining the services of a trained and experience member of staff. It is important that the sufferer is honest about any problems which may make it hard to continue to undertake a particular task. It is also important not to make any hasty decisions immediately after a diagnosis.
