Beyond the Purple Heart - continuity of care for the wounded in Iraq

Article Abstract:

The contributions of the Medical Centers such as Walter Reed Army, Brooke Army and Landstuhl Regional Medical to the U.S. soldiers, who have sustained devastating injuries from high-velocity gunshots or fragments from explosions, are described. They are provided with support by the military combat hospitals and forward surgical teams in Iraq from the emergency rooms (ERs) and operation rooms (ORs).

Long-acting methods of contraception

Article Abstract:

Modern contraceptives have enabled countless women and couples to plan their pregnancies through contraceptives methods that vary in their effectiveness and in the determinants of effective use. Two of the long-acting methods include intrauterine devices and progestin implants that could be used by women regardless of whether they are spacing their pregnancies or have completed childbearing.

Violence-related mortality in Iraq from 2002 to 2006

Article Abstract:

A study to examine violence-related mortality in Iraq during the period 2002 to 2006, with evidence taken from the Iraqi Family Health survey is presented. Findings concluded that violence is a leading cause of death for Iraqi adults and men and points to a massive death toll.
