A study into safe and efficient use of defibrillators by nurses

Article Abstract:

A longitudinal quasi-experimental study was conducted to determine whether ward nurses perform rapid defibrillation at six months and one year after they have completed training in this procedure. Results reveal that introduction of a semi-automatic defibrillator has the potential allowing rapid defibrillation of pulseless VT and VF by first-responders at ward level.
