Ethics, the constitution, and the dying process: The case of Theresa Marie Schiavo

Article Abstract:

The remarkable facts and judicial history of the case of Theresa Marie (Terri) Schiavo is described which invoked innovative thinking about the dying process. It was concluded that policies that facilitate living wills and durable powers of attorney can avoid the acrimonious disputes displayed in the Schiavo case and also, palliative care should be offered to people in the dying process.
