Feedback process empowers employees

Article Abstract:

The Safety Observation Feedback Process provides a venue for safety professionals to acquire information about their company's conformance with safety regulations. This helps them make a more accurate assessment of their company's accident prevention programs and address problems in a more effective way. An effective safety committee is tasked with analyzing the existing safety system and implementing the necessary changes. The Safety Observation Feedback Process can benefit employees in terms of a heightened awareness of their role in preventing workplace accidents.

People with disabilities need a heightened awareness

Article Abstract:

The Title III regulations of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 require facilities and public accommodations to provide 'areas of rescue assistance' for disabled persons. A study conducted by the National Institute of Standards and Technology showed that 'areas of rescue assistance' may not be adequate to save disabled persons during a fire. The study also showed that a good sprinkler system provides an adequate safety factor for disabled persons during a fire. Public facilities should take these factors into account when developing their emergency plans.
