Heading off the sinus headache

Article Abstract:

Sinus headaches affect approximately 12 million Americans annually and are the leading chronic illness. The cause is inflammation of paranasal sinuses whose membranes filter bacteria and secrete them in fluid to the stomach. When infected, these membranes swell with anti-bacteria fluids.

Headaches

Article Abstract:

Millions of Americans suffer from headaches, but approximately 90% of headaches are not caused by separate, underlying illness, and more than 85% of headaches respond to proper treatment. The three major types of headaches are tension-type, migraines, and cluster.

Migraines

Article Abstract:

A 60% increase in the number of migraine victims in the US since 1982 is attributed to workplace stress, public awareness and use of estrogen replacement therapy. A new drug called Sumatriptan has been successful in treating 70% of migraine victims.
