NP Leaders Meet to Develop Strategies

Article Abstract:

Members of the American College of Nurse Practitioners (ACNP) held their annual meeting in Washington, DC to discuss technical and political nuances associated with their profession. Each year the ACNP adopts federal legislative and organizational priorities. The organization is comprised of separate assemblies for individual, state or national organization affiliates to provide input and later plan priorities and strategies for the following year.

Provider-Neutral Language Sought to Protect NP Role

Article Abstract:

Nurses should insist neutral language describing health care providers should be used when appropriate. There are many types of health care professionals within the medical profession. Insurance companies, pharmaceutical companies, and the governments often use only the limited term, "physician," when a more inclusive term would be more appropriate. Lack of correct terminology can cause confusion in a patient.
