Prenatal glucocorticoid exposure and postnatal adaptation in premature newborn baboons ventilated for six days

Article Abstract:

A hypothesis that improved renal, cardiovascular, and endocrine function would persist after antenatal glucocorticoid exposure of preterm ventilated baboons for six days was tested in a study. Results showed that exposure to prenatal betamethasone (BETA) in the premature baboons increased mean arterial blood pressure (MAP) and glomerular filtration (GFR) on day 1 without measurable effects by day.
