Resistance to diet-induced hypercholesterolemia and gallstone formation in ACAT2-deficient mice

Article Abstract:

Research on laboratory mice indicates that acyl CoA:cholesterol acyltransferase (ACAT2) deficiency provides a significant level of resistance to cholesterol-induced gallstones and hypercholesterolemia. Inhibition of ACAT2 may therefore be a successful strategy for treating or preventing diseases related to cholesterol-rich diets.

Turning WAT intp BAT gets rid of fat

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on the knockout mouse models of leanness and obesity resistance. The generation of the new lean mouse model via inactivating the gene for an inhibitor of mRNA translation has been carried out and discussed.

Adipose tissue reduction in mice lacking the translational inhibitor 4E-BP1

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on the nuclear-encoded mRNA containing a 5' cap structure recognized by the eukaryotic translation initiation factor 4E (elF4E) subunit of the elF4E complex. The biological function of elF4E has been investigated via the disruption of its gene in the mouse.
