School nurses key to health plans

Article Abstract:

The UK government has huge plans to increase school nurse's responsibilities. The Department of Health's agenda for schooling nursing outlined in the updated School Nurse Practice Development Pack requires school nurses to deliver on key priority targets including accident reduction, drug and alcohol abuse, smoking cessation, mental health, obesity, sexual health and teenage pregnancy rates and are also expected to assess emotional, spiritual and physical needs of every child.

President to boost pride in nursing

Article Abstract:

Sandra Arthur, the first elected president of the NMC, intends to launch a new code of professional conduct and put the pride back into nursing profession. She believes that the code has to be upgraded to include scenarios based on real-life instances so that it can guide nurses and employers through difficult professional and employment issues.

Specialist nurses vital to London NHS strategy

Article Abstract:

A new United Kingdom. National Health Service review report suggests that London needs 350 specialist nurses in the next 10 years to cut emergency admissions. The new health minister and practicing surgeon Sir Ara Darzi in the capital's healthcare for the strategic health authority NHS London make this recommendation.
