Screening interval for colorectal cancer debated

Article Abstract:

A study done reveals that increasing the number of years between screenings for colorectal cancer through sigmoidoscopy could provide patients a high level of protection from potentially lethal polyps. However, the American Cancer Society and the American Gastroenterological association have decided that a minimum interval of five years should be maintained between screenings.

Baldness drug shows promise in preventing prostate cancer

Article Abstract:

Ian Thompson, MD, professor, and chair of the urology division of the University of Texas Health Sciences Center (San Antonio) stated that finasteride is the first drug found to reduce the risk of prostate cancer. However, when men on the study did develop prostate cancer the cancer was very aggressive.

Internet filters can also block health sites

Article Abstract:

A study funded by the Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation found that Internet filters required in schools and libraries can block access to health information. Such filters could block access to a wide array of sexual health issues such as safe sex and condom use.
