The 5-lipoxygenase pathways promotes pathogenesis of hyperlipidemia-dependent aortic aneurysm

Article Abstract:

The 5-lipoxygenase (5-LO) macrophages localize the adventitia of diseased mouse and human arteries in areas of neoangiogenesis. The 5-LO pathway is linked to hyperlipidemia-dependent inflammation of the arterial wall and to pathogenesis of aortic aneurysms through a potential chemokine intermediary.

'Multipurpose oxidase' in atherogenesis

Article Abstract:

A biochemical pathway that reveals links between the enzyme myeloperoxidase (MPO) and inflammation, cardiovascular disease and smoking is presented. The findings from the research could provide new predictive test and therapeutic target of cardiovascular disease.
