Model for integrated mental health care measures up

Article Abstract:

Mental health service providers in a London hospital trust have developed a system to measure the risk levels of patients based on priority coding. Patients are assessed by the allocation of points which are totalled and measured against a risk chart. Patients whose points put them into the red zone on the chart are classed as high priority cases and dealt with immediately. Green level patients are regarded as low priority and may benefit from more home-based care.

Foucault gets into nursing

Article Abstract:

The use of Foucauldian philosophy can help mental health nurses deal with psychiatric patients in a constantly developing way, re-assessing the use of caring strategies as an effective method of treatment. Michael Foucault was French philosopher who suggested a strong relationship between the ownership of knowledge and the control that knowledge provides over someone to create a specified or desired situation.
