The incidence of four canals in maxillary first molars

Article Abstract:

An in vivo study was conducted to account the incidence of fourth root canals treated in maxillary first molars throughout a seven-month period in a post graduate endodontic program. Data was collected by determining the number of canals treated by the postgraduate students, while the attending post graduate professor supervising the case verified the number of canals in the teeth. Out of 121 maxillary molars that were treated, 85% or 70% met the criterion of having four or more canals treated.
