Vaginal versus oral indomethacin in a rabbit model for non-infection-mediated preterm birth: An alternate tocolytic approach

Article Abstract:

The hypotheses that vaginal indomethacin is more effective than oral indomethacin for prolonging gestation in a rabbit model for non-infection-mediated preterm birth, and that it mediates its tocolytic actions through changes in the cervical matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) activity, are investigated. It is concluded that vaginal indomethacin is more effective than oral for prolonging gestation in the rabbit, and its tocolytic effects might be mediated in part by alterations in cervical MMP activity.

Are the agency for healthcare research and quality obstetric trauma indicators valid measures of hospital safety?

Article Abstract:

The effect of patient-specific and hospital-level characteristics, which is not related to the safety environment, on U.S. Agency for Health Care Research and Quality obstetric patient safety indicators (PSIs) is examined. The results have shown that the risk of obstetric trauma is significantly affected by both patient and hospital characteristics and hence it is not a good indicator of patient safety.

The effect of short-term indomethacin therapy on amniotic fluid volume

Article Abstract:

The effect of short-term indomethacin therapy on amniotic fluid volume is studied. Short-term indomethacin therapy, in either singleton or twin gestations, does not cause a clinically significant change in amniotic fluid volume.
