Waste management and recycling in Romania: a case study of technology transfer in an economy in transition

Article Abstract:

Romanian environmental non-governmental organization Oamenii si Mediul Inconjurator launched the 'Recycling and Waste Management in Romania' project with the UK's Powerful Information, an environmental information charity, to facilitate the transfer of knowledge between the two countries. Carried out between 1996 and mid-1998, the project was an attempt to inspire networking among Romanian municipalities' solid waste management (SWM) professionals to challenge the Romanian government's approach in handling municipal SWM. It was able to bring to light the need to tailor technological systems to the particular situations that different Romanian municipalities were facing.

Disassembly and recycling of electronic consumer products: an overview

Article Abstract:

The waste emanating from the discarded electronic consumer products has forced some European governments to issue regulations that would make manufacturers of such products responsible for the problem. Manufacturers have subsequently drawn up plans to come up with product designs that would allow recyclability. This recyclability, however, has to be implemented without incurring uneconomical costs. A survey of the situation in Europe is presented.

The generality/specificity issue in consumer innovativeness research

Article Abstract:

Most of the studies on the impact of personality traits on consumer behavior have failed to show personality's impact on consumer behavior. The hierarchical relationships between a global personality trait, its manifestations in a consumer context and overt consumer behavior is tested in a bid to study personality's role in shaping consumer innovativeness.
