Electronic merchandising is being introduced in several progressive department stores. Wards has a computerized catalog, Filene's has a computerized bridal and gift registry, and several stores will use a video disk player for Cuisinart demonstrations. Customer reaction has been favorable, especially at Filene's, where registrations have doubled in the past year.
