A snapshot from Europe .... the Display Screen Regulations in other states

Article Abstract:

Belgium needs new laws to implement the screen legislation. Denmark will be ready by the end of 1993 and France are set to enforce the new law in Jan 1993. Germany will incorporate the new laws into worker protection proposals. Greece is not yet ready to enforce the laws ans Italy also anticipate delay. Ireland is ready, as is Luxembourg and the Netherlands. Spain and Portugal expect to be prepared by Jan 1993. Non-EC members are also interested in the new laws.

The lemming factor; simulating human behaviour towards the threat of fire

Article Abstract:

People involved in a fire often underestimate its spread and the danger to them. To test this the researcher needs to look at the physics of fires, building types and human behaviour. They need to consider how fast people move, toxicity of materials, methods of escape and reactions amongst other variables.

The IT factor

Article Abstract:

The impact of new technology, in particular portable computers, on office workers is explored. Research into the health and safety implications of using portable computers for long periods of time or in cramped locations is presented.
