A Hands-Off Investment Pays Off

Article Abstract:

Altos Computer Systems is a multiuser computer company in San Jose, California. A low-cost, single-user terminal for its systems of large multiuser computers was needed, but its own engineers have been geared to building top-end systems. The solution was to invest in Wyse Technology, a fledgling company, to form a partnership beneficial to both parties. The working relationship is described. The newer firm is prospering. Altos Computer Systems does not interfere in its management.
