Ill-health retirement

Article Abstract:

A 1995 survey of 50 organizations in the UK has uncovered a number of trends in early retirement for ill-health. Over the past five years, the number of ill-health retirements stayed the same in 52% of the organizations, increased in 28% and went down in 6%. A minimum length of service, ranging from one to five years, is required by 28% of organizations to qualify for ill-health pensions, while 57% had no age or length-of-service requirements. Inland Revenue rules, decision-making procedures, pension calculation, and recent changes to retirement provisions are also discussed.

Going spare

Article Abstract:

It is possible to purchase replacement car parts in the UK through either a franchised dealer for the particular make of car or an independent dealer. Prices are unlikely to vary much between franchised dealers in different areas, but prices can vary greatly between independent dealers. Considerable savings can be made by purchasing parts from independent dealers instead of branded parts from franchised dealers. When having parts fitted at the same time as having the car serviced, any warranty or insurance documents should be checked carefully.
