Localization of expatriates

Article Abstract:

There are advantages and disadvantages when companies use a localization strategy for their expatriates. Advantages include better control of costs and of employee compensation. Problems in adopting a localization strategy include offending employees, who may decide to leave their company. Companies using localization should consider managing their communications and formalizing their assignment policies.

Sending expatriates to Germany

Article Abstract:

Expatriate transfers often led to serious tax consequences for both the expatriated worker and his German employer. Most expatriates working in Germany are subjected to double taxation, particularly when their home country has double taxation treaty with their host nation. This forces many German firms to provide such employees with additional benefits to compensate for the heavy taxes imposed upon them.

Article Abstract:

Multinational companies that are planning to send employees in Sweden should consider several factors including the country's imposition of high income tax level on employment income. Planning ahead can reduce costs, with the exception of income taxes. The high level of individual income tax in Swedenmakes it hard to employ highly skilled international employees.
