Article Abstract:

The UK construction and building industry employs about 2 million people in 1998, and provides 8% of gross domestic product. Workers are often poorly educated although highly skilled at what they do. Health and safety can easily be overlooked by many small building firms, which usually employ less than 7 people. Wages in the building industry are lower than average, which effects diet and lifestyle. The government wants to make more industries and businesses aware of the effects of health and safety on worker output.

Theatre agents under scrutiny

Article Abstract:

Safety problems of working with anaesthetics include possible risks to pregnant women, and to the vitamin B12 system. Monitoring is important to minimise exposure. Types of vaporiser may be important in controlling release of gases, and modernization of equipment may be more effective than using extraction cupboards. Areas of concern include dental surgery, administration of gas to children, and usage of gas in labor wards by women who control their gas intake.
