The role of human resource management in international joint ventures: a study of Australian-Indian joint ventures

Article Abstract:

Human resource (HR) management is a complex and critical issue for Australian companies with local joint venture partners in India. The special set of HR practices within Australian-Indian joint ventures is a result of the government's HR practice regulations. A study of nine joint venture partnerships examines the influence of HR practices in Australian-Indian joint ventures. It is suggested that HR management plays an important part in international joint venture (IJV) success but has a moderate influence on the motivation to form IJVs.

What motivates employees? A comparison of US and Chinese responses

Article Abstract:

Cultural values in China affect how workers feel about their work and a study of Chinese and US workers found that Chinese workers rated good wages, good working conditions and loyalty from their superiors as very important while they did not consider having interesting tasks to do or getting support with personal problems as important. Chinese supervisors were better at identifying what their staff wanted than supervisors in the US. It is useful to find out what employees value so that effective reward systems can be initiated.
