There's no new thing under the sun

Article Abstract:

Corporate governance or the concept of a board of directors was very much an issue in 1934 as it is in 1992. Professional associations have been formed to streamline the concept especially in the wake of company financial fiascos. More stringent evaluation procedures for the performance of present board members, as well as stricter qualification standards for prospective members, should be established. Legislation should ideally follow.
