Article Abstract:

Investments in derivatives are a way of life in the mutual fund industry. The challenge for agents selling funds is to know which are safest and how to calm the fears of clients. High-publicity failures have raised awareness about the instability of some funds. All fund managers are trying to make money; the question is how high a risk is worth a possible high return. Agents should check prospectuses, call mutual funds and research to allay client fears.

Medicaid estate planning has become a major trend in estate and financial planning, especially concerning long-term care. The major test of coverage is proving that an individual is unable to pay. The Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1993 closed several legal loopholes that high income and middle income individuals used to claim Medicaid.

Insurance agencies should carefully consider day-to-day operations before purchasing optical scanners. Many agencies use optical scanners as key sources of record keeping while other agencies use electronic systems to supplement their marketing programs. The amount of memory require to store images is a key concern for insurance agencies.
