Term insurance survey

Article Abstract:

Life insurers will need to adapt to potential changes in term life pricing if the Valuing Life Insurance Model Regulation, developed by the National Assn of Insurance Commissioners, is approved in many states. Many insurers have not formulated plans for complying with the potential law, but possibilities include raising premiums and maintaining guarantee periods or decreasing the guarantee period. In a survey of life insurance companies, premiums for annual renewable term and ten-year level term are tabulated.

Article Abstract:

A college professor teaching a course in "Life Insurance and Financial Planning" altered his syllabus to include out-of-class projects after he perceived an increasing degree of apathy among students. The course revision brought real-life situations before the students and asked them to confront difficult issues such as how to calculate the value of human life. Students had to confront such issues as the gap in income levels between different demographic segments of the population.
