Salary increases begin to move up

Article Abstract:

Hewitt Associates LLC released its annual survey reporting that salary increases are beginning to move up for the first time since 1990. The company credited the turnabout to the robust US economy and the existing tight labor market. The continued support for variable compensation programs is spurring the new increases. Forecasts for 1998 show that salary increases will average 4.1% for salaried exempt workers, against 4.0 in 1997.
