The mountain Tsunami: Afterthoughts on the Kashmir earthquake

Article Abstract:

The lessons learned from the disaster response to the Kashmir earthquake of 8 October 2005 is illustrated. A review shows that the entire institutional structure of the country was completely unprepared to deal with a major disaster and the disaster-affected people of Pakistan and Kashmir were failed not only by their government but also by the international community's aid fatigue where the affected people seem to be left to their destiny to deal with the approaching harsh winter conditions.
