In search of synchronized systems; electronic billing is the future,. but now firms must input clients' codes

Article Abstract:

The use of electronic billing in corporate law departments and by their clients is increasing, but coding remains a problem. The process may be expensive and time-consuming, but law firms say it is expected of them. Corporate lawyers complain that coding problems have extended closing times by one day. The benefit of electronic billing is that clients can check a bill against standards or rules they set.

'Can we interest you in an extranet?' Large law firms are realizing the benefits of marketing their tech departments

Article Abstract:

Some large law firms have discovered an additional money generator in marketing their technological expertise, and the article gives examples of some firms' experiences. Accounting firms have long dominated this trend with technological applications to enhance their services and have been 10 to 15 years ahead of law firms in this effort.
