Article Abstract:

The switch from practicing law to working as a legal administrator is discussed. Leaving the practice of law but not their law firms proves ideal for some of the lawyers who can work as administrators in their original firms.

Pumping up small claims; reformers seek $20K court limits - with no lawyers

Article Abstract:

An Organization of Americans for Legal Reform (HALT) has plans for model legislation raising the jurisdictional limit for state small claims courts to $20,000. All but six states have small claims courts, but limits in the jurisdictional limits vary from $1,000 to 15,000. HALT also wants to allow the courts to provide injunctive relief and to stop the use of lawyers.

Mediation for the masses; pioneer of low-cost services rolls out ADR on the cheap in Southern California

Article Abstract:

Jacoby and Meyers co-founder Forrest Mosten has started the Mosten Mediation Centers, which will offer low-cost mediation services to the middle-class. Mosten believes the middle class is both ready for and in need of such services. According to Mosten, 60% of clients have been individuals seeking divorce mediation, although the centers have so far handled a broad range of civil and domestic disputes.
