11 O'clock Show wins C4 series

Article Abstract:

Channel 4 (C4) has launched its programming schedule for winter 1998. The winter schedule features a full series titled The 11 O'Clock Show comprised of 24 parts that will be aired for three consecutive nights. Other programs slated to be rolled out during the winter schedule are new dramas titled Queer as Folk and Psychos, a documentary titled Shanghai Vice, and an 8 x 30-minute gameshow called Trading Up. Meanwhile, C4 will be showing an NMETV-made documentary that will show the results of the annual NME polls as well as 5 x 30-minute documentaries titled Ramsay's Boiling Point.

Hilton departs BIB after nine months

Article Abstract:

British Interactive Broadcasting (BIB) Chief Executive Officer David Hilton has resigned from the post he has been holding for nine months effective Aug. 20, 1998. James Ackerman, managing director of joint ventures at BSkyB, was named successor of Hilton. Observers speculated Hilton decided to leave BIB because of conflicts with BIB Chairman and BSkyB Chief Executive Mark Booth over strategy get to get clearance to launch from the European Commission. Hilton has been the second executive to leave BIB since its operations started in May 1997.

Bragg to front epic Christianity series

Article Abstract:

LWT controller of arts, Melvyn Bragg, is expected to chair LWT's 20 x 60-minute epic millenium series, which has a working title Christianity Milleneum. The new program, which has Bragg as executive producer, will tackle issues concerning the 2000-year history of Christianity. Each episode of the program will begin with a 15-minute film that will revolve around the theme set for that week, followed by a 45-minute debate on the issues presented by the film with Bragg as chair. The new program is expected to be broadcast in 1999.
