A New World's Fair for Ergonomics

Article Abstract:

The fourth Orgatechnik International Trade Fair was held in Cologne, West Germany, in October of 1982. 102,000 people came to see 1,327 international office furnishings and information processing exhibitors. 115 American companies were at the exhibit. Conference issues were health, occupational psychology, industrial psychology and interior office design. This was the first year office furnishings were included in the exhibition. Exhibition photographs are included.

An enormously difficult task

Article Abstract:

China is not renowned for its statistical reliability and therefore presents the reportage of its economic climate with a formidable challenge. Journalists have to gauge whether that nation is making progress and this means acquiring hard statistical data from its banks, companies and regulatory agencies. It also means monitoring the government and its officials closely in terms of what they do and not only what they see, and determining fact from fiction.

Article Abstract:

Japanese autoracing, which started in 1950, is a mixture of dirt-track, speedway and roadracing. A normal three-day event at one of Japan's six autoracing tracks averages over $8 million in total betting. An autoracer must be at least 17 years old, no taller than 5'10" and no heavier than 132 pounds. The average annual income for autoracers is $300,000.
