Photo rental companies have felt the effects of the economic downturn in 2001 with several camera rental companies either liquidating or posting severe losses. David Stamp, the chief executive of VFG Group, feels that the DigiBeta video sector performed better than 16 millimeter television film, and that there must be a rate realignment to keep the market competitive and profitable.

Jean-Paul de la Fuente of Media Content discusses the football industry in the UK, and why it only capitalises on around 200 pounds sterling a year, when football media rights in the UK are worth 730 pounds sterling. Fuente says the football industry needs to introduce new media rights concepts, get a second opinion from experts, and ask archive rights how to extract value.
