Unattended operation

Article Abstract:

The Federal Communications Commission has revised the Communications Act, making unattended operation of TV and radio stations possible. This has been done on the premise that modern transmitters are highly reliable, with built-in protection circuits. The Commission allows flexibility in the operation of the transmitter as long as any malfunctions are corrected within three hours. The Commission has outlined proper operating parameters within specified limits, which have to be complied with by the licensee. Remote control systems for monitoring transmitters must be operated by authorized persons.
