US streets ahead on location

Article Abstract:

British film locations are expected to become more popular following the success of the screened Jane Austin novels. Location Expo anticipated this when representatives from the United Kingdom worked hard to sell British sites and services to assist a Hollywood film production team. Some local authorities have not supported the regional arts boards as they should, even though they are suitable locations for film productions. Southern Screen commission has subsequently been set up to manage inquiries for the South-east.

BFI misses out on Brit party

Article Abstract:

The British Film Institute (BFI) is facing considerable difficulties, even though film-making as a whole in the UK is thriving. It has seen a cut in its government grant, and may now have to make job losses and reduce its services. It has received little government support, and also seems to have a negative image among its employees and its clients, even though it has in fact been very successful with limited resources.
