Article Abstract:

Alasdair Milne commented that women executives who thrust cookery, makeover and gardening shows in the programming dominate BBC. A stirring rejoinder finds that women have broken through the glass ceiling and hold key positions in the public sector television and in the media publishing groups. This position is not reflected in the world of business as only five of the top 350 top companies had female chief executives and 39 FTSE companies did not have female directors at all.

The niche channels have to track down the ones worth picking up as the BBC and ITV gave U.S. shows a wide berth. The niche channel shows have emerged from cable which has the leeway to produce edgier material as compared with the networks.

Ultimate Force a casualty of BBC onslaught

Audience ratings of ITV have decreased considerably due to British Broadcasting Corporation's premier programs. Ratings of ITV's prime series Ultimate Force were also down.
