Indies starting to see sense

Article Abstract:

The consolidation which is currently taking place in the UK's independent television sector is a sign that the sector is becoming more mature. There are around 800 independent television companies, and it is clear that the time for rationalisation has now come. This process will be fuelled by the arrival of Channel 5, which will pursue a policy of using only a few independent concerns. It is likely that medium-sized independents, which face high running costs, will now see the wisdom in joining forces.

Spicing up Ginger

Article Abstract:

The departure of Ginger Television Productions Chief Executive Michael Foster is the latest in a growing number of challenges facing this company. In particular, the group's television operation has failed to expand effectively beyond owner Chris Evans, who remains the unit's main source of income. There are now indications that Ginger Television is contracting, rather than growing, and the departure of Foster, who was seen as vital to the growth of the Ginger empire, could accelerate this process.
