Hosting a student conference: Putting the shoe on the other foot

Article Abstract:

A student-run fish and wildlife conference is considered as a unique way for students to gain professional skills behind the scenes as well as on stage. The purpose of the conference for students, by students was to provide a low-pressure environment to gain professional skills through workshops, networking, job and graduate school searches, and to provide an outlet for scientific research.

Biology, Management, and protection of North American sturgeon

Article Abstract:

The present state of North American sturgeons appears downright fortunate. It is observed that the remarkable rise in interest in sturgeons in the United States and Canada over the past 15 years has led to increase research, greater levels of protection and more frequent gatherings to share and discuss conversation issues and technical findings.

Research, monitoring, and evaluation of fish and wildlife restoration projects in the Columbia River Basin: lessons learned and suggestions for large-scale monitoring programs

Article Abstract:

Lessons learned in reviewing the research, monitoring, and evaluation efforts of projects and their impact on advancing knowledge in the Columbia River Basin Fish and Wildlife Program are discussed. The program is one of the United States's most ambitious and expensive long term ecological restoration programs.
